ACADEMICS / COMMUNICATIONS
The Mass Communication program at Paier College offers the following possible concentrations: Advertising, Digital & Social Media, International Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and Sports Communication. While the program features a variety of course offerings in digital media, students get an interdisciplinary foundation through theory and hands-on, real-world skills needed to become skilled and effective media practitioners and more informed media consumers. Internships and independent projects give students the practical experience needed to get jobs in the media industry. Graduates find work in digital media, social media, public relations, advertising, journalism, broadcasting, corporate communication, event planning, and within humanitarian and non-profit organizations. A successful Mass Communication graduate will have learned to demonstrate effective speaking and listening skills for communication in personal, public, and media areas, and to demonstrate effective writing skills for communication in personal, public, and media areas.
Beyond core curriculum and elective coursework, students are exposed to classes in Effective Speaking, Public Relations, Media Aesthetics, Persuasive Communication, News Reporting, Communication Theory, New Media, and more.
