The screen you’re reading this on is part of a device that had a team of Industrial Designers involved in its development and production! The Paier College Industrial Design program, offered within the Shintaro Akatsu School of Design (SASD), emphasizes the development of products from early concept stages, initial design, and the ultimate production of products for personal, home, industrial, and commercial use. These products range from domestic goods, consumer products, medical equipment, entertainment devices, and more. Students learn using the latest computer technology and build models in well-equipped labs and workshops. The curriculum moves into advanced application and design topics, requiring real-world problem solving and teamwork throughout the process of later-term learning. SASD is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the governing body of undergraduate and graduate art and design schools.
Beyond core curriculum and elective coursework, students are exposed to classes in 2D & 3D Design Principles, Materials & Manufacturing, Industrial Design Studio, SolidWorks, 4D Time Based Media, and more.
